It was vey hot when we arrived in the morning in Bari.
After checking in our hotel, we went to the Bari central station and took the local train to Matera. It took two hours to go from Bari to Matera.
Matera is a UNESCO World Heritage site. We went to Sassi where people once lived in caves; the houses were carved out of limestone.
We went down the stairs, and...
...passed through the tunnel
This is the Sassi.
We walked around the houses of the Sassi.
The view of the homes in the caves was magnificent and beautiful
Inside of a model house
I saw a model house where we could see what the inside looked like and learn about their history.
The life in the cave houses was hard, they lived with their domestic animals in their cave-houses.
These photos and your descriptions are beautiful! I feel like I went along with you for the journey through the tunnel and into the village. This is wonderfully done! :)
